331 Vs. 347 Stroker

331 VS. 347 Stroker Engines

Is there a Difference?
Is one better than the other?
Is bigger Better?

331 STROKER -    (4.030 X 3.25 Stroke)

347 STROKER -     (4.030 Bore x 3.40 Stroke)

When doing an "Apples to Apples" comparison of the two engines with similar Compression, Camshaft profiles and other components they perform very similar. On a technical standpoint there are a few difference between the two. We've had great luck with both engines.

331 :

  • Lightweight and Quick Revving .  Increased Bottom End Torque over 302.
  • Improved internals over factory 302. (Forged Connecting Rods and Pistons)
  • Same Dimensions as 302.  If already have a 302 existing Headers, brackets ect. will work.
  • An increase of 60-70lbs. extra Torque Potential over factory 302 engine ( when built properly)
  • Slightly better Connecting Rod Length than the 347. Meaning less cylinder Wall Stress.

347:

  • Lightweight and Quick Revving. Increased Bottom End Torque over 302.
  • Improved internals over factory 302. (Forged Connecting Rods and Pistons)
  • Same Dimensions as 302.  If already have a 302 existing Headers, brackets ect. will work.
  • An increase of 70-80lbs. extra Torque Potential over factory 302 engine ( when built properly)
  • Increased Rod Angle on cylinder wall than the 331.
  • Slightly more Torque Capacity than the 331 stroker
  • Piston Pin intersects with Oil Ring with some manufacturer pistons.  This has been addressed   by Piston Manufacturers and slight changes in Rod lengths.
