Many of our customers want to know if they can swap out their early or late style 6 cylinder engines to something larger. It is possible in a lot cases. One of our turnkey engine assemblies will provide you with the proper foundation to make the switch as simple as possible.
Engine Size Year Range V-8 Conversions * Parts Needed for Swap
170 61-72 289, 302, 351w Headers, Mounts, Pulleys, Bellhousing, Radiator

Drum to Disc Brake Conversion
Frame Rail for better stability
Transmission Upgrade
Later version EFI engines require more work to make the switch from a V-6 to the V-8 .

If you consider running the serpentine belt system, you will need all of the accessories, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, alternator and maybe the smog pump and their brackets. You will also need the water pump and its pulley. Don’t forget that the late model Mustangs run a reverse rotation water pump.
This is extensive list and does not cover everything. We don't sell individual parts and post this info for informational purposes only. We will not be held liable for anything that may be missing from the list above. You would need to get a complete 302 or 351w Donor car or Truck to use some of the components. As you can see there is a lot more involved to get setup when converting over from a Carbureted to Fuel Injected system. Unless your an experienced Mechanic / or short on patience we recommend staying away from this conversion. Give Engine Factory a call at 1-800-704-5385 to go over any engine you may need.
