Ford Muscle at the Cleveland Autorama

Ford lovers and folks that just enjoy great cars will all agree that Dennis Allen’s 1964 Ford Fairlane is one sweet ride. It will also be one of the best looking Fords in the Summit Motorsports Park at the Cleveland Autorama this weekend. The smooth black beauty is a very upgraded version of one of the mid-sixties muscle laden bad boys. Dennis Allen builds hot rods for a living, so you know what to expect from this machine.

The daily driver is a very roadworthy beast. The early muscle cars were a little on the evil-handling side, not having been engineered to go around corners with the greatest of ease. Revamping the mid-sized platform with 21st century roadability was the first order of business. Once that was accomplished, the Fairlane was fitted with a 500 horsepower 347-inch stroker engine and an upgraded 4-speed transmission. The differential was replaced with a Ford 9-inch race oriented unit.

The Thunderbolt hood looks perfect on the street beast as Dennis cruises the roads of the Great Lakes region. He has run the car up to Michigan for the Woodward Dream Cruise, and the car is a regular visitor to the Summit Racing Equipment parking lot in Tallmadge, Ohio. Dennis is a Master Technician at Jeff’s Auto & Towing Center in Grafton, Ohio, which accounts for the workmanship on the Fairlane. He has been working on street machines for other people all his life. The Fairlane makes it his turn.

Dennis and his wife Sue frequent Summit Motorsports Park between twelve and eighteen times every year, and have the car in the show at Fords at the Summit and Blue Suede Cruise each year. With the new additions to the machine, it looks like he’s ready for the competition this year. Come on out this weekend and say “hi” to Dennis. It will certainly be a pleasure to have him with us!
