Carburetor Adjustments:

This article will give you some guidelines on how to adjust an Edelbrock Carburetor. When purchasing one of our ready to run engines we make all the necessary adjustments ahead of time. Before making any adjustments be sure Engine is warmed up and the choke is wide Open .
1. Slow the engine speed Down to about 800 RPM. This is done by Turning the Idle Speed Screw, this Screw is located near the throttle Linkage on the Drivers Side of the Carb.
2. Start with the Mixture Screws. They are the Screws on the Front of the Carb. with the Springs. Turn the Drivers Side clockwise slowly until you hear the engine start to slow down, then back the screw out one full turn.
3. Go to the Mixture screw on the Passenger side, Turn the Screw in Clockwise slowly until you here the Engine slow down, Then back it off one full turn.
4. Reset the Idle Speed again to 800 RPM, This is the Base Idle & mixture Adjustments, you can fine tune if desired. Remember that by turning the mixture screws in clockwise you lean out the engine, Turning them counterclockwise it richens up the engines fuel mixture.
5. Once you obtain the best idle you can experiment by going in or out a very little at a time. This needs to be done evenly.
6. A word of warning, any engine that has a very high Lift or duration Camshaft it becomes harder to a get a good feel on the mixture adjustments, this is considered normal.
7. A few helpful hints to consider, try to keep your Carb, Fuel filter and Fuel Lines as cool as possible. Engines run better when they're cool. The Automatic Choke Red Wire must be hooked up to a 12 volt key controlled Ignition, on and off with Key.
