TECHNICAL CORNER:

Ordering headers for Fords can be challenging because of the Many horsepower and Engine combinations the following information will help but it is not always 100% accurate. When ordering --- the Header company will first want to know your year Make and Model ---- Engine size and Horsepower --- when you get into kit cars Cobras and hot rods you have to rely on the kit car company to make recommendations.

Fox body Mustangs example available through summitracing use shorty BBK#1515    for long tube use BBK # 1516 

Use good quality Header gaskets. Torque Header bolts to 35 Lbs. Use Lock Tite to keep bolts from vibrating loose. Keep spark plug leads clear of Hot Headers.

Use the following horsepower chart and give the Header company the Year, Make and Model of your vehicle.

Examples:

289 & 302 up to 350 hp                                    1-5/8” primary, 2-1/2” to 3.00” collector

331 & 347 stroker engines up to 425 hp         1-5/8” primary 2.5-3.00” collector

351 Windsor engines up to 435 hp                   1-5/8” primary, 3.00” collector

408 & 418 stroker engines up to 515 hp         1-3/4” primary, 3.00-3.50” collector

427stroker up to 538 hp                                   1-3/4”  primary, 3.00-3.500”
