Dear Chris, Matt and Tim:

I’ll get right to the point, I had a bad experience.  But the Engine Factory asked me to give them a chance to make things right.  And they did, big time!  I could not be happier!  Here’s my story.

I remember riding with my dad in his 66 Mustang coupe when I was about 5 or 6 years old.  My dad loved muscle cars and so do I.  I’m a 17 year police Lieutenant and last year my wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary.  We decided to treat ourselves to a couple of new vehicles.  My wife chose a Toyota, but I didn’t want a new vehicle.  I wanted my dream car, a 68 Mustang.  Well, a Sergeant I work with put me in touch with his cousin who restores Mustangs.  Ironically, he had just finished a partial restoration on a 68 Mustang Fastback J code.  The original engine was long gone and my first order of business was to install a new engine.  I consider myself a shade tree mechanic and I rely on professional mechanics for the big jobs.  For the past 14 years I’ve gone to a locally owned family auto shop here in Anchorage, Moore & Son’s Automotive.  They have been in business for close to 40 years.  They treat the customer right and they stand behind their work 100%.

I was looking for a similar, family owned business, where I could buy a good quality turn key engine without spending an arm and a leg.  I did some searching and found the Engine Factory.  They are a family owned business and every customer referral I spoke to had nothing but good things to say about them.  I filled out the questionnaire on the internet and Chris Nelson replied the next day.  A couple of phone calls to clarify some issues and the order was placed.  In approximately 2 months, I had myself a shining new engine.  Well worth the wait since it was still late winter / early spring and nobody drives their classic cars in Alaska until about May.

We had a problem.  The new engine had a 157 tooth flex plate and my Mustang needed a 164 tooth flex plate.  I was very disappointed.  I contacted Chris and turns out, the size of the flex plate was a question that should have been asked on the questionnaire.  A flex plate was drop shipped from the factory in California.  However, when it was installed the engine had a pretty bad vibration.  Chris immediately shipped out another flex plate from the Engine Factory thinking that the one from California was the wrong one. But when it was installed, the engine still had a vibration.  Ok, what do we do now?  Was it the engine or the flex plate?  The bottom line was I had a brand new engine with an, out of the box, defect.

I must admit, there was a point when all I wanted was my money back.  But Chris and Matt asked me to give them a chance to make things right.  At first I thought, Yeah right, nobody has good old fashioned customer service these days.  Even the Moore family told me to be careful because there aren’t too many businesses these days that really treat you right and stand behind their work.

In less than a week, a completely new engine was built and shipped out.  The Engine Factory even covered all the shipping costs.  On the video that was shipped with the replacement engine, Tim told me he came in on a weekend to build it for me.  Ok, my mechanics and I said we’ll believe it when we see it.  The replacement engine arrived, it was installed, and boy does my Mustang run like new.  Well let me say this, the guys at the Engine Factory do what they say they’ll do and they are honest and fair, which are qualities many businesses these days are seriously lacking.

I could not be happier with my new engine and I was even more pleased with the customer service from the Engine Factory.  After it was all over with, I was even more surprised

A very sincere, thank you!

Eric
