NON STROKER VS. STROKER ENGINES

In General a normally aspirated engine’s torque potential is very closely tied to its displacement.
All things being equal by increasing the Stroke of a motor the Torque capacity will increase at lower RPM’s.  More  thrust is generated on the Power Stroke generating more Torque.

The shorter stroke engines develop more top end Torque and HP.  IE – 302 Ford Vs. 347.

With a Longer Stroke the torque and Power Peaks move closer together and maybe 500 RPMs lower than the non stroked engines.

Camshaft Selection:  Don’t count on a bigger camshaft to produce larger HP and Torque numbers.
Often once a cam duration reaches 236 degrees @ .050 the peak torque drops down.
